Tourism Australia Sets Its Sights on Open Text

25 Mar 2009

Tourism Australia has gone live with Web Content Management solution from Open Text.

Waterloo, March 25, 2009 - Open Text™ Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a global leader in enterprise content management (ECM), has announced that Tourism Australia has gone live with its Web Content Management solution from Open Text.

The Open Text Web Solution will power two major websites: australia.com, Australia’s official travel and tourism website and the major website to promote Australia as a tourist destination; and media.australia.com, a new website that provides information to both domestic and international media representatives on news, events and promotions occurring in Australia.

The new sites will enable Tourism Australia to eventually standardize on the Open Text Web Solutions platform with one knowledge base across the organization.  This will create efficiencies, reduce costs and facilitate the rapid update of information and maintenance.

“Tourism Australia’s digital strategy is integral to our worldwide marketing effort to promote the depth of Australian holiday experiences available,” said Geoff Buckley, Managing Director, Tourism Australia.

Australia.com and media.australia.com join the existing businessevents.australia.com website which has been managed through Open Text’s Web Solutions for the past three years.

“Just like destinations themselves, we need to continue to offer new and exciting reasons for people to keep visiting our websites. Australia.com, which is the primary call to action for our marketing initiatives globally, provides consumers with planning and motivational content to inspire them to travel to Australia. The site is available to people across the world 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in eight languages.

“In addition, our media.australia.com website services international media to ensure that news about Australia is available to journalists across the world 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Buckley.

Open Text Web Solutions, part of the Open Text ECM Suite, ensure an engaging user experience by integrating, managing and optimizing content, databases, file systems, and Web 2.0 applications. Content can be managed, translated and distributed across dozens of countries and sites globally. The Open Text ECM Suite, the company’s flagship offering, brings together the broad range of content management capabilities organizations need to securely and safely manage all types of enterprise information – documents, vital records, Web content, video, images, email, forms and reports – across many different enterprise systems and applications.

In addition, Open Text will also enable Tourism Australia to further facilitate its plans for digital marketing, including enabling access to Tourism Australia’s interactive websites from mobile devices and delivering content securely to any target, channel, device or audience with context and personalization.
